LAEF: Trade in Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Models

  • Dates: 15 – 16 Nov, 2018
  • Address: The Upham Hotel (1404 De La Vina St)

The Laboratory for Aggregate Economics and Finance (LAEF) at the University of California, Santa Barbara is please to host the Trade in Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Models conference at the Upham Hotel Garden room located at 1404 De La Vina Street in Santa Barbara.

Recent developments in the world economy have underscored the importance of international trade and aggregate macroeconomic activity.  Complex international supply chains among modern economies have significant implications for international business cycle co-movement and the impacts of local and global economic shocks.  In addition, international trade policy, including protectionism in the form of tariffs and quotas, can be seen as macroeconomic shocks which have spillover consequences for the global economy.  Events in the last few years have called into question the rules-based global system of trade policy, and focused attention on how de facto trade policy is tied to macro activity.  This conference, organized by Michael Devereux, Fabio Ghironi, and Finn Kydland, brings together leading edge researchers on the nexus between international trade and dynamic macroeconomics.  Over two days, authors and discussants will present current research on many areas on the theory and empirics of international trade and international macroeconomic dynamics.
